Tasting Notes

This red wine displays a deep color with cherry and violet highlights. On the nose, it combines notes of toasted oak with aromas of red fruits, vanilla, and a hint of minerality. Its powerful tannins and vibrant acidity provide structure, while the lasting toasted notes lead to a deliciously sweet finish.

Background

The story of winemaker Eladio Piñeiro is one of resilience. A personal setback led him to sell his winery and move across the Atlantic, but his passion for his Galician homeland never faded. Upon his return, inspired and revitalized, he founded Finca Eladio Piñeiro in 1981, championing biodynamic viticulture. Here, organic vineyards and lunar cycles guide production. This results in authentic Galician wines with labels like "Envidiacocha" and "Frore de Carme", celebrated worldwide for their respect for nature and exquisite taste, capturing the true essence of Rías Baixas.

Production Process

When you drink The Alibi, a blend of Portuguese red wine, you will primarily savor Aragonez grapes (80%). However, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, and Petit Verdot grapes also contribute to its complexity. The grapes thrive under ideal conditions in meticulously cared-for vineyards in Alentejo. To ensure optimal aging, the wine undergoes meticulous selection and cold maceration before fermenting with indigenous yeasts. The Alibi spends three years maturing in new barrels, followed by additional aging in stainless steel tanks and bottles before it adorns your table.
